Kids being kids...

Edit Posted by with No comments

What happened to the days of kids simply being kids?  I did it, my neighbor does it, my friends do it, and I'm sure you do, too.  We "schedule" activities for our kids to promote engagement and activity, yet we've lost the art of connecting with one another and focusing on the heart.

To learn more about being "unbusy," read Prof. Sari's article, "The Disease of Being Busy."

Preserving Tiny Prints

Edit Posted by with No comments
One of the most unique gifts you could ever give or receive is a keepsake with your child's finger or foot prints.  Etsy has a host of unique, artisan, hand-crafted items to preserve those tiny prints.....

Note: These are great for Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, too (wink, wink).

Bath Time!

Edit Posted by with No comments
As babies, most of us love being in the water -- it reminds us of being in our mommy's tummy.  This video really helped my Mommy and Daddy prepare for my bath time.  I think they're still a little nervous about handling me, but I think they'll get the knack of it pretty quick.

Building Harmony's Library

Edit Posted by with No comments
One of my Lola's favorite childhood activities was visiting the Bayview Branch Public Library with her mother and grandmother.   She couldn't believe that her favorite children's book, The Snowy Day, written by Ezra Jack Keats and winner of the 1963 Caldecott Metal, was #19 on parenting's list of 25 must-have books for a baby's first library.

If I'm lucky, this will be in my library when I arrive...

What was your favorite children's book?

My First Ruby Slippers

Edit Posted by with No comments
Thanks to Ms. Nicole at Sugar and Stitches, I have my first pair of Ruby Slippers!!

These little gems were crocheted in super soft Red acrylic yarn with Black bottoms and a black button at the ankle so they don't fall off my feet.  She even included a little tag so my parents will know how to wash them and keep them looking pretty.  I think she added a little Baton Rouge love to them because they warm my heart every time I look at them.

Thank you, Daddy -- I'm so glad you ordered them for me.

So what’s a layette anyway?

Edit Posted by with No comments

My parents have been making a list and checking it twice to determine what I need when I arrive.  This handy dandy article from Graco has it all mapped out, including what not to get.  I can hardly wait!  But just in case they don't get everything, I'll get to go shopping with them to pick out things I really like!  Fun for all!!
